Starting at Post 2, he shot out to the lead from the beginning, pushing past Jo Jo Air to set the pace, with fractions of :21.80 and :44.60. Jo Jo Air mounted a challenge, but then Biddy Duke held her off, along with Aqua Seaform Shame, who tried to ride the rail to the lead. After the race, Biddy Duke’s jockey, Juan Hernandez, said, “She’s really fast and she’s one of the smallest horses I’ve ever ridden. She’s small, but she’s got a big heart.” An Eddie Surprise ended up shooting past Aqua Seaform Shame to take third. Magic at Midnight, the favorite, and Lakerball, finished fifth and sixth to round out the final order. Zee Drop ended up being scratched from the race.
